I'm Linda. The thing you need to know about me is that I am incredibly lucky, and that's why I have a blog. But the blog isn't about me, it's about the world as seen by the people I know. It's about the things that affect those of us living on the margins, and the people who are making the rules we have to play by. I'm hoping that if you run across this, you'll find something you didn't know before.
And if you're only here for the jokes, that's okay too. I don't judge. Unless you're the person who just loves one of my favorite bands but can't name a single song. Then you're clearly not the sort of person who will enjoy the way I string my words together. Those people hate me eventually. And that's cool, it's a mutual antipathy. Just, you know, if you are that person, I hope that you are put in a small room and forced to listen to an audio recording of someone reading CD covers with special emphasis on the song titles on a loop for eternity.
I wrote a thing on the Internet about being poor and the effect of years of relentless struggle, and it's gone viral. A few friends of friends helping me get dental surgery and giving me some cash to cover the bills while I wrote a book have turned into more than I could ever have dreamed. I got to tell millions of people that I am fine now, I'll be okay, and to go find people who are me from a week or so ago. People without this giant platform and this huge chance to do good. And the best part is, I get to do it for a living now because I have these chances. It's going to be what I do. It's more than I could have dreamed of. I have done more good accidentally in one weekend than I have done in years of knocking doors, I think. I hope you guys are as willing to help in a few months when I've been able to set them up properly as you are right now. I think you will be.
Either way, I'm glad you've landed here. I have been able to have some incredible conversations lately, and I want to have more of them. People know stuff that I don't, and I like knowing stuff. So please, if you have something that you want to talk about, let's do it. Email me, tweet at me, leave me a comment. Whatever. But if you have something to say, I'm kind of looking forward to hearing about it. I hope that the things I have to say are helpful. Sorry I didn't manage to get this up for so long, but email firstname.lastname@example.org. I would love to hear your story.
